Hi,

i'm new to the openipcam forum, i have a Foscam Clone from UVision, at least it looks nearly the same (Webif, outer box...)

How can I get access to the Webinterface files, do I need JTAG Interface or can I dump the current firmware, because we need to translate the Webif files.

Thank you.

looks like you'r asking for a kickassstart  :'(
is it really too much to expect ppl to use boardsearch?

Very funny, there is no thread explaining how to get started. Only threads on bootlog firmware flash romfs aso...it would be enough if someone could explain me if an interface is needed or if i can change files through Lan / Ftp / Telnet...i don't want to kill the cam just translate a few texts in the webif.

A telnet shell would be enough for me...but board search does not provide any usable files to enable it or to gain access to webroot folder.

ok,

if you would have done at least one look in the firmware section, you would have found the "unpack tool for webui" thread. Using google on foscam firmware would have guided you to gadgetvictims or irish jesus blogs etc .... full with answers to your superfluous questions

no, there is no telnet, ftp, whatever...
no, you don't need jtag

there is serial console only, but this is as good as telnet, that you consider to be enough ... then all your questions should be answered

Yes i found these tools but the main problem remains, i first need to dump the firmware because it is not a foscam or can i use this as universal file:

just reading some of the threads that boardsearch brings up for webui would make me cautious about flashing a webui that's not designated for my cam.

the second thing I would deduce from the above thought would be that I better dump my firmware.

where is the problem ???? there are two known methods described in the forum (search: "firmware dump"). pick one and if it fails for you, try the other one.

Borsti92,

Yes You'd better to dump Your FW first. Actually I didn't do that 'cause I have FOSCAM clone, but You've gut to try.
There are two topics about that
http://www.openipcam.com/forum/index.php/topic,39.0.html
http://www.openipcam.com/forum/index.php/topic,104.0.html

Also You'd better to try Ramon van Bruggen's firmware download tool for IP-Cam's with uBoot from here
http://www.openipcam.com/forum/index.php/topic,4.0.html.
You need to solder RS232 UART anyway, to be able to connect the cam Your computer and upload the patched software with requred telnetd or ftpd.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask:)

Don't forget we also have the wiki.

Feel free to add to the wiki, as I and others have.

I had some problems to find all the information in the beginning because i missunderstood the SEARCH Field on top. If you are in some thread and use Search it only looks in the thread.

I got a good kickstart using the Firmware Dump Method #2 and the Wiki Information. I hope this helps other "noobs" getting started.

I want to take the opportunity to thank you here for all the help provided to get that cam fixed.
