ok,
they are a bunch of ignorant and/or unwilling idiots. Either they don't read the emails or they don't get the meaning, but even after sending them snapshots of the webinterface they still insist that the cam has relay control and framerate select on the IE webinterface. But they have zoom +/- without function on the page ....
They don't even accept detailed description of errors in the html/script code of their fw.
They even hardcoded the fw version in the webui, so it doesn't look like they intend to offer updates.
So: if the cam you are looking forward to buy says something like ali2, wanscam or 99safe, I would stay away from it. Their cmos sensors seem to be crap and the fw is alpha at best.
The pcb looks standard, is marked with "
www.wanscam.com" and "
www.99safe.com"
but the WLAN board is soldered in place. Mechanically there is quite large play in the horizontal plane, so reposition accuracy is not too good.
so the only positive aspect seems to be: we now probably have 2MB firmware for dx cams (as most/some of them show the dolphin on the box/cd)
what makes me nervous is the fact that in the settings area there are some urls that belong to a chinese security/surveillance service company. I don't know if it tries to "phone home" or if it just a "left over" piece of setting.
