Hi!

I recently bought an "ali2" - rebranded WansCAM (the one with the dolphin) AJ-C2WA-D118 - the lens (allthough quite wide angled) and IR-cut filter are ok, but the cmos sensor is total crap :more stuck pixels than on cheapest USB cam. The firmware is not even beta ... (no WLAN ch. 12&13 for EU, no relay control, no framerate slector))

They claim "refund all if no satisfy" but I fear they won't (mostlikely won't refund any shipping).

Lets see if they at least offer compensation, then I will open and analyse the hw/fw.

ok,

they are a bunch of ignorant and/or unwilling idiots. Either they don't read the emails or they don't get the meaning, but even after sending them snapshots of the webinterface they still insist that the cam has relay control and framerate select on the IE webinterface. But they have zoom +/- without function on the page ....

They don't even accept detailed description of errors in the html/script code of their fw.

They even hardcoded the fw version in the webui, so it doesn't look like they intend to offer updates.

So: if the cam you are looking forward to buy says something like ali2, wanscam or 99safe, I would stay away from it. Their cmos sensors seem to be crap and the fw is alpha at best.

The pcb looks standard, is marked with "www.wanscam.com" and "www.99safe.com"
but the WLAN board is soldered in place. Mechanically there is quite large play in the horizontal plane, so reposition accuracy is not too good.

so the only positive aspect seems to be: we now probably have 2MB firmware for dx cams (as most/some of them show the dolphin on the box/cd)

what makes me nervous is the fact that in the settings area there are some urls that belong to a chinese security/surveillance service company. I don't know if it tries to "phone home" or if it just a "left over" piece of setting.

Hello,

Is it possible for someone to upload the latest firmware for this?  It should be Firmware Version 0.37.2.38 or later.

Thanks.

I don't know how to capture it.  Buy my cameras have that firmware loaded on them.

I'm sure it's on the forum somewhere.  I've just never done it before.

hi!

I have same device, marked as IPCAMERA, taked from TomTop store.
Also, try receive fw from wanscam/tomtop w/o result.
As I think this is Foscam clone, with a differ wifi module.
WebUI from Foscam works well, but I have some problems with WiFi on
original fw, later, I try use Foscam fw, but wifi lost.
Now, I can find original fw, for do something inside ;)
great, if you can get fw from wanscam and place it here!

hmmm, this one is based on realtek and should be compatible with compiled in drivers.

http://www.wikidevi.com/wiki/Shenzhen_Ogemray_Technology_GWF-M05

but maybe USBIDs aren't in device database of driver....

so most likely you realy need latest version of fw.

no realtek, this is ralink :(
Now, I try use alternative fw, device reboot after boot in cycle :(
I try communicate with cam by RS232, only see boot log, no reaction to ESC (when I see "Press ESC..."), Ctrl-Break, etc.

sorry, meant Ralink all the time.

The problem is the compiled in driver RT73 only supports b/g chipsets.
Yours is b/g/n ... so yes, you need more up-to-date fw.

No wonder no existing dumped fw isn't working for you as I haven't seen a foscam-clone model with n wifi yet. I will keep my eyes open, maybe I stumble upon one...

thanks for answers!
now I see two way:
1. swap USB wifi ralink m05 to wifi like in Foscam.
2. recompile Kernel (but I do not know where is source)
evening I'll try to stop cycle boot of my device, & change fw to Foscam.
also, may be need to open new topic about wanscam/ali/ipcam tomtop device?
I put hardware photos, boot log, etc...

Hi,

saw your uploaded fw 0.37.2.38 in the other thread.

It is definitely for a 4MB device, so won't fit on the original ali2/wanscam AJ-C2WA-D118 as it is only 2MB. Most likely the too large fw won't be accepted via webui at all.

I just bought a wanscam with lousy wifi, actually not close to work stable.
Cable connects fine.
