General Discussion / wanscam jw0008
« on: February 20, 2016, 08:26:55 pm »
Hello, has anyone been able to flash any firmware to this device?.. I have some firmware that matches in numbering, but quite a bit off from what is loaded, however, when I flash the ui it simply reboots.. I did see the earlier post regarding an issue like that..      the board is different from other foscam clones I have seen, it seems that the wireless and the main chip might be together on a riser board.  v. 2a on the board I believe

having trouble with ftp and alarm, so any help appreciated..          thanks

**update, I did actually get the firmware to flash, but unfortunately the firmware was for jw0004, it would seem that camera might have a different camera sensor or some thing along those lines, because now I don't get any picture.. not bricked, it seems to work, but the green light flashes and no image..

any help greatly appreciated.. wanscam isn't being helpful or responding at all for that matter..

no help from tenvis customer support, they did try and sent some pictures with labels pointing to the connectors, but no pinouts for the j1 (black) and j2 (red) for the cmos sensor board.   if anyone is good at tracing these sorts of things, could you give me some tips on how to find which pins might be power and common? perhaps i can figure the rest out, but IDK honestly..

I did just email them, so I will post here if they are helpful or not, and if so, the info for others to enjoy..     mine was a veevo brand so I don't know if it would be exactly the same or not..

Thanks again

I am familiar with the wifi board, its not what I was questioning about.. I need to know if anyone knows the pinout for the camera board itself...    there are about 10 red and 10 black wires going from the camera board to the main pcb..         but, thank you..

no body knows anything about the camera daughter board on this model? is it completely dependent on the main pcb?

Thanks..

Hello, is it possible to use the camera board separately through usb or a ardiuno ?..  anyone know the pinout on the red and black connectors used by some clones in the 2014 versions?

The reason I ask is because my veevo (I believe it was) fell and landed pretty hard, after that the ethernet port quit working and I haven't been able to get anything to come up with a tty-usb on j9? i think it is.. (under the chip)   so I would like to salvage something other than the motors and wifi from the camera..

Thanks for any input..

They didn't say much really, just that they couldn't help me with it.

I did mention that I needed to load it via serial though.. I also have written back and requested a full firmware package. no response yet..       ???

the more I think about it, I am thinking that the camera on the board isn't even seen, let alone finding a driver..   it seemed like I had two devices that were seen when I started with all this.. but now I get

Code: [Select]
Sash command shell (version 1.1.1)
/> no support
new USB device :80fb4004-fed740
hub.c: new USB device 2, assigned address 2
p1[7]:1,j 3,config->bNumInterfaces:4

usbaudio: valid input sample rate 48000
usbaudio: device 2 interface 3 altsetting 1: format 0x00000010 sratelo 48000 sratehi 48000 attributes 0x01

usb_audio_parsecontrol: usb_audio_state at 00ff3c60
sw version is 4.22.2.36
aw version is 4.11.2.39

nevermind, on second thought the second usb device I was seeing previously was the wifi card..  I hadn't noticed I left it unplugged, the whole thing is in pieces, with a delicate serial rx :/

Hey again shufti
That does give me something to go on at least.. I am having issues with the rx terminal on the pcb but I am able to use it for a bit until it gets shifted then I have to resolder. (Currently I am soldering to the underside directly to the trace :/ )  Hopefully I will be able to find a decent combo before I loose the ability completely..

as for easyn.. they claim they can't help..   I read in another post that they feel that the firmware is their proprietary property and won't release it..  so..  idk..    I'll keep trying..

Firmware / Re: Need help finding the correct firmware
« on: June 19, 2014, 10:16:45 pm »
I finally got a response from easyN after 2 weeks...

"sorry, as for this, i can do nothing. can you access your ipcam normally now?"               :o :(

that was their response after informing them that I used the webui to attempt to change the firmware.

with a $40 camera, wouldn't most people try to change the firmware if it didn't work rather than ship back the camera?  especially when there is place in the ui to do so?..      idk.. just saying..   :P

Hey schufti, how have you been?.    ;D
Yes, I have put just about every firmware I can find on it.  on everyone of them, during boot, the only usb  device that gets recognised or initialised is the audio.  at least on the ones that finish booting and don't end with a kernel panic.. :/

Or, while on the subject, would it possible to repurpose the main pcb since I am not getting anywhere toward putting it back in original working order?..   like an adruino..   or something?..
