I just bought a TrendNET TV-IP343PI.  The picture looks great.  Unfortunately, I did not realize that the best audio codec available is G.711.  Needless to say, it sounds like crap.

I see that TrendNET makes its source code available at https://www.trendnet.com/downloads/list_gpl.asp .  I've been sifting through the code for my camera, but haven't had any luck so far.  I discovered in comments that i_Audio_Format has a theoretical value of 1 (PCM) but when I tried to set this, audio stopped entirely until I set it back to default and rebooted.  I also tried to set i_Audio_Samplerate to 44100 which didn't seem to affect anything.

If anyone could give me some advice about what to do next, I'd appreciate it.  Alternately, if you want to suggest another camera, my requirements are: 1/3" 720p sensor (or better), audio input, and PoE.
